The dragon has long been an integral part of gaming, but developers really love them recently. Come check out dragons in a variety of games, from Minecraft to Demon’s Souls.
Notch has been posting quite a bit of info on his dragons. Check out some pictures here and here. This will likely be one of the boss monsters that they have been planning to add to the game. Hopefully we’ll see more massive creatures like this in the future.
Terraria will be adding a dragon in a future update. This one doesn’t appear to be hostile, and players will likely be able to ride them one day. This is pretty exciting news, as it opens the way for pets to appear in this game. That was something that had been missing from this game for quite a bit. Most of the time, everything wants to kill you in Terraria. Even if it just turns out not to be hostile, that will be quite a nice change of pace.
Dark Souls has dragons of all types. Red drakes, a poisonous one and many more. All of them can be quite lethal if you are slow on the dodge. They also usually have some excellent loot for you, as any proper mythical beast would. The game also includes several dragons that don’t really look like any we have ever seen. The gaping dragon is a great example, instead of a mighty chest it has a massive maw in its midsection. Quite a sight to behold, but ironically it is all bark and no bite.
A major feature of this new game is the fact that you can actually cut off the tails of many creatures.Several of the tails make excellent weapons, such as the one you get from the drake. It can get you through most of the early areas of the game.
While there are many more dragons in gaming, these are the most exciting ones right now. We can’t wait to see a truly hard enemy in Minecraft. While we haven’t heard any news yet, it looks like this is the hot enemy type right now. Perhaps someday we will even see one in Lords of Uberdark.
