Universum: War Front Kickstarter Spotlight

An FPS RPG MOBA? My reaction upon hearing about this was man this is probably not going to work. Then I checked out Universum: War Front. Despite trying to combine so many things at once they may actually pull it off. Find out why this game looks very impressive to us and many other games.

Universum: War Front and Gameplay

The game focuses on three levels:

  • A campaign map where you gain territory and make far-reaching choices across a huge map
  • An RTS level where you command your troops and use abilities
  • A ground combat level where you fight in third-person MOBA style
  • Each of your units can be individually controlled by you
  • Many of your units have dozens of upgrades

All of these appear to blend seamlessly together from what we have seen so far. However we imagine the net code for this will be quite a chore to put together. It’s something that has dissuaded many companies from doing something like this.

If they can get it going and have the servers to run it then it could be an incredible game. The few games we have that area already like this such as Natural Selection have been very good. This one is trying to take those games to a more massive scale.

Universum: War Front and Transformers

While all the elements look good the ground fighting in MOBA form has transformation elements. The humans have mechs which go from flying to ground fighting like a Macross fighter. The aliens have evolutions in order to adapt to enemy defenses. The whole process looks amazing.

Universum: War Front is Already Funded

For those of you who hate donating to things and watching them fail it is already funded. You can of course get the usual suspects and much more in the game:

  • Copies of the game, art books, soundtracks etc.
  • The opportunity to get your own Captain
  • In-game monuments and tributes to you
  • Statues of characters

Overall we think this game is looking amazing. We hope that the game lives up to the hype it has built for itself.
