The Free Bundle is just that. We pretty much expected a bundle like this eventually. A few enterprising indie developers have come together for no other reason than promotion. So let us take a look at these games which they want to stand on their own merit.
The games of the Free Bundle
This bundle has some surprisingly interesting games. In fact, some of them are more interesting than in paid bundles. Let us take a look at them together:
- Nitronic Rush is a racing game with an extremely interesting art style. It also has combat elements which keep it fast paced.
- Ascension is a dark, atmospheric survival horror game from a 2d perspective.
- Celestial Mechanica is a puzzle-platformer with some excellent music and some nice visuals. It is worth checking out in the free bundle for music alone.
- Imscared is a first person horror game in the style of Amnesia. However this game sets itself apart due to sparse, 8bit graphics.
- Abobo’s Big Adventure is a mix of old school gameplay. It goes from Legend of Zelda to Double Dragon which Abobo is from.
Overall these games are quite good. The reason they are giving them for free is quite obvious. They believe that their games are good enough to stand on their own. Overall it does seem that they are quite impressive.
Should these be free?
We are wondering about whether they should be free. Indie games saw an upswing of value for a while. However we are now seeing a downturn in value. We hope that the huge amount of supply does not send demand into the basement. Indie developers are people too and they need to eat like anyone else. However we don’t necessarily see the Free Bundle as a cause of this. We see it as part of a bigger picture, as should you.
Where to get the Free Bundle
You can get the Free Bundle at their official site. You can of course get it for the low price of free.
