SUPERHOT (yes, all caps is how the devs put it) is a Kickstarter game that has seen instant success. There are some good reasons why this interesting take on the first person shooter stands out and why they became so successful.
The SUPERHOT Appeal
SUPERHOT is an FPS that only moves when you move and psychological mystery the game definitely invokes some interesting feelings in many players. You play the role of an as-of-yet faceless gun person who is being assaulted by those who seem to be in power. You have to shoot your way to the truth while using your unique power to have time move only when you do to outmaneuver a horde of thugs.
Another big part of the appeal is finding out why this is all going on. In the demo you can still play on a few sites there are some cryptic messages from those in power to keep you guessing.
How SUPERHOT Saw Massive Success
It originally started as part of the 7 Day FPS Challenge. Challenges like these are popular among indie gamers and mainstream gamers watch them as well. Therefore they get positive reasons from every single side of the industry.
The fame they gathered in that small challenge led to fame all over the industry. Both smaller sites and larger ones were covering them around the same time, for completely different reasons. All of this grew into a following in all sectors of gaming before the Kickstarter was done.
Supporting the SUPERHOT Kickstarter
The Kickstarter itself features copies of the game, beta and also the higher levels with special surprises. It’s fairly similar to many others we’ve seen but quite functional and it will give you the items you want. So take a look and see if you would be interested in supporting this unique game. For those of you wondering it will be out on PC, MAC and Linux. The day may be coming where most games are on all three.
