Steam Greenlight is not letting people go through it very quickly. In fact, it might be more accurate to call it Steam Red-light. Many games that have huge fanbases cannot get through. These include McPixel, Yogventures and many more. Even worse than that, there is now a $100 fee.This means that a slow process will be going even slower. However it also means that we will see less games simply put up to troll people on Steam.

Feedback is mixed from all over. For some, this is a huge disaster. For others it is just a bump in the road. Still others see it as a good thing. In this article we will be going over the various reasons people feel this way.
The Starving Developer on Steam Greenlight
For those developers without a lot of money, this is a setback. Many of these developers are just starting out. This $100 USD fee may not seem like a big deal to many. However for those who are struggling this is yet another barrier to them.They would argue that this contributes to elitism. Elitism certainly is a problem in indie gaming today. It is no longer just “Indie Game Developers.” Now it’s the guys with the big success who aren’t far off from big developers. Everyone else kind of looks up at their ivory tower. In the same way these big developers refuse interviews with the small press. It’s a major problem today and this sentiment has some major truth to it.
The Moderates on Steam Greenlight
For some developers, this is just a bit annoying. You pay the fee and get your game on Steam Greenlight. You move on. Or you simply ask your fans for some funds. This is where the majority of developers and fans will lie.
Steam Greenlight Supporters
Some people say that the changes were needed. Certainly they did need some more restrictions. The Steam Greenlight Arena was being flooded with sub-par games.
We are going to get people who are mad at us for this, but Date Warp is just a straight up ripoff. Why is poorly drawn Kyo pointing a gun? Do not say it is a homage.
Some games should not be on Steam Greenlight
For every McPixel you have, you get an absolutely terrible game like Date Warp. Take Fruits Basket, make the main character black and add Kyo looking odd with a gun. You get Date Warp. It at least has something resembling gameplay and a story, although it was not to our tastes. This is far from the only bad game like this. Smiley Survival is basically a graphing calculator app up for consideration on Steam. There are much worse games than this on there as well. The $100 fee will do little to stop them, although it may curb some of the flow.
Our Verdict on Steam Greenlight
Basically it is a bit of a mess right now. We hope they come to a decent middle ground here. Of course this is how anything goes with a new system for distribution.
Not that it matters, but I’ve never even *seen* Fruit Basket. 🙂 And she’s Indian, not black.
Indian? Fair enough, our mistake there. Never seen Fruits Basket? Sorry, but that isn’t going to fly. One scene in particular is a direct lift from the series. Not to mention the obvious character similarities. But as you said, not that it matters.
Seriously. I haven’t. That’s not to say that the *artist* hasn’t. It’s entirely possible that the characters look like those characters and that the artist was doing it on purpose. You’re about the third person to mention it, so there probably is a connection. But I really haven’t seen the show and have no idea what scene you’re talking about. 🙂
Eh, fine, you haven’t. The artist has. Very much so. Go actually check yourself. Your artist quite blatantly took art from the show. Some of it actually looks traced.
