Shiness has just reached the first funding goal in the last week. They’re attempting to make another epic JRPG in an era that has been sorely lacking in them.
The Shiness Story
The game centers on Cado and Poky who are two young boys who appear to have anthropomorphic features. The races in this game live on floating islands called Meteoras. Each area has its own distinct culture and landscape. They end up separated and stranded on unfamiliar islands. As the game goes along they find out that something big is going to happen again on the sky islands and they will be a part of it.
The game world and quests in that world are supposed to change with your quest choices. This has been promised a lot and we have never gotten it. The most we’ve seen is brief branches here and there. Even in WRPG games where they get closer it still does not happen. Will this game be the first one to really do it? We’re skeptical but hopeful.
The Shiness Language System
The game is also going to have a language system set up you will need to learn. Or at least get a translation for if you aren’t into that sort of thing. We know that some people are so that’s probably a plus for you.
The Shiness Battle System
From what we’ve been able to tell it looks like the combat is very similar to the “Tales of” games. They are going to have zones where attacks do more or less damage depending on how close you are. That goes for both the player and the enemy so it’s a risk/reward sort of thing if you get close.
The World of Shiness
The game centers on a floating world that was split into portions by a massive magical event. So far the designs of the areas have been quite beautiful with tons of detail. We hope the whole game looks this good when it is finished.
The Shiness Kickstarter
This one has what you would expect. Copies of the game and promotional figurines. The top reward is a trip to France… that you pay the expenses on. That’s a bit strange but okay. If it sounds like a good game to you the visit the Shiness page as usual.
