Notch has taunted ZeniMax over Scrolls once, now he is taunting them a second time by challenging them to a Quake-off.
As we previously reported and expounded upon here, ZeniMax Media is suing Mojang. This means that the company that owns Bethesda and the company that owns, well, Notch are going to be throwing down.
We also mentioned that Notch is pretty much treating this as a joke. He made a joke earlier that he would be renaming it to the Ender Scrolls. However he has really stepped up the joking today by challenging Bethesda to a Quake 3 competition. That’s right he is going to take Bethesda down in ultimate Quake 3 action. We are shocked and disturbed that Notch didn’t challenge them to a game of Minecraft. First to 100 falls off a cliff wins.
ZeniMax is surprisingly silent about the whole issue. We are blaming it on the fact that they don’t have an iconic front man who everyone knows better than them. Get it together ZeniMax, you need to go get yourself a Notch or Gabe Newell if you want to make jokes back at them. We suggest that he dress up in a guard outfit from Oblivion, go to Notch’s house and yell “Stop, you have violated the law!”
As a side note, we want to point out that Notch is not Mojang in its entirety as he is usually shown to be. He is the frontman for their group, albeit their most outspoken member. If we are incorrect please tell us, because we would like to do a documentary on him doing everything from making coffee to coding games. However he is working on the project as a designer as well as Jakob and Penny-Arcade’s Jerry Holkins.
Notch’s confidence seems fairly well warranted, as it isn’t hard at all to tell these games apart. That being said Zenimax has a significant legal team which could possibly cause serious problems. We will keep you posted as more develops on this story.

Bethesda is actually known for being really good at Quake.
Notch did this because he wants them to humor him, not because he wants a Quake match. He knows they’re better at it, so he picked it just to get them to play him.
He’s also treating the whole situation like a 4 year old would.
