Proven Lands Kickstarter Spotlight

One thing we really like to see from any indie game is immediate support for mods. The developers of Proven Lands are putting that up as one of their main selling points for the game. With another take on Roguelikes and Sandboxes this game is looking very good so far.

Proven Lands Grammar Mistake

Followed guys. It’s followed.

What Sort of Name is Proven Lands?

Before we get started let’s address the name. We’re guessing the developers meant something along the lines of proving grounds. Between this and some grammar errors in their promotional videos the writing so far is a bit strange.

To be clear this isn’t to bash them but to support them. They are putting out a game based on a strong story and a novel alongside it. Correcting problems like these could mean the difference between failure and success. They are a team centered all around Europe though so we understand that English may be their second language.

The World of Proven Lands

Despite some problems in that area the universe seems very appealing. Everything is procedurally generated from the worlds to alien races that will move and influence the world independently. You are in a living world where your choices matter to a large number of characters.

The Story Engine of Proven Lands

They are also touting their “Story Engine” as a big selling point. They have a main story with several acts that will stay mostly the same.

You are stranded on a planet after your ship is damaged and must save your own life from radiation early on. After that you save your own life it’s time to figure out where your place on the planet is.

The AI Metagame

The other part of the “Story Engine” is an AI director that creates a unique story with random events. If this works correctly then it should be an absolutely amazing system.

The Game Engine of Proven Lands

At the moment they have a robust engine you can try. It can keep track of quite a few entities even in an early stage. We believe it probably will grow to the point where it can support an amazing world.

A Massive Kickstarter Goal for Proven Lands

While we wish them the best and they are getting some big promotion their goal of 299,000 pounds is quite large. Right now their Kickstarter is sitting at 19,000.  As usual most of us will just be getting the game. Also as usual those at the top can design quite a bit of content. So if you want to support an indie team scattered across Europe then take a look.
