Many people go to Notch to promote their game. But developer Bunch of Circles has really 1-upped everyone else: they named their game itself Notch.
That’s right, Notch is a steampunk MMO which just happens to share the same name as the nickname of Markus Plesson. While this is a rather blatant appeal to the cult of personality which Notch has, you can’t fault their guts. However it won’t be a traditional MMO and it is going to be on iPhone first with other platforms later.
Overall it certainly doesn’t seem like a bad concept, an MMO Simcity. You and your friends will spend your time working on your own buildings and towns, while contributing to each other. We aren’t sure how well it will work in practice, as some users could put up some “inappropriate” content. But that is the risk you take in games like Notch or Spore.
That being said, the artwork is very nice. Not a bad style at art of all. However the artist seems to have an affinity for lamps, but they are at least well-drawn. We are excited to see the space stations and more advanced buildings which will come later on.
There is also a very strange feature which takes advantage of the mobility of iPhone. Some of you may be familiar with Foursquare which allows you to tell your friends or whoever where you are using your mobile phone.
Notch is going to take this concept quite a bit further by giving you experience and gold for checking in to places. If this is your kind of thing, then you will love this game.
You can check out the Notch Kickstarter here or their website for Notch here. If you are a Minecraft fan who is also a fan of social media, this could be the perfect game for you.
