Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san is about a mermaid named Muromi that likes to hang out with humans. She also has many friends that are other mythical creatures. Muromi spends her time fighting birds, talking about how she effected ancient history and hitting on a boy fishing at a pier.
Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san is a comedy with no ongoing story. There are almost nonstop jokes except for when there is ecchi. This show is not for children. Most of the shows jokes are sight gags which make it much easier for it to translate and still be funny.
The biggest problem with Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san is that it is a twelve minute long show, but it still reuses animation at times. I expect that if a show is shorter they are able to not reuse the animation. It is really apparent that they are doing this during the ecchi moments of the show. They will show the same reactions over and over until the ecchi is done. Fans still recognize poor quality even when it is done with breasts.
The best part of Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san was the mythical creatures that appear throughout the series. There is a yeti, leviathan, harpy, kappa, alien, and even more mythical creatures that show up to give their own twist on what the creature is like. Most of these creatures are Moe girls unfortunately, but the kappa being super muscular is a nice contrast.
Another fun part of the show is when Muromi talks about events in the past she encountered like helping animals leave the ocean to walk on land. In one case she even caused an animal to never want to go on land or near the light again. Having Muromi and the other mermaids’ opinions on the past is pretty cool. Like what a sea creature would think of animals that left the ocean or events that happened on land. It shows a lot of imagination.
Overall Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san is a pretty good comedy. It is the right length for the content and they do not repeat the same joke too much.
Score: 3/5
