Every classic game is getting a remake and Mutant League Football is no exception. This one however is from the designer of the original with some new members.
The Mutant Football League Team
One of the major things that the design team has been pushing is their creative staff. While not exactly known for brilliant cerebral writing many members of their staff have written some awesomely crude stories. Such as:
- Michael Mendheim who designed the original Mutant League series
- Dave Devries a “monster artist” of a sort
- Simon Bisley who wrote Lobo
- Jay Lender who directed SpongeBob Squarepants
- Micah Wright who wrote Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies
While we like a few of these works more than others they are all at least over-the-top ridiculous. Some of us are quite excited about the fact that the Lobo writer is on this. That is what this sort of game needs.
The Mutant Football League Gameplay
This quasi-remake is sure to have most of the old mechanics with an updated style. Here are a few things to expect:
- 30 teams including robots, mutants, the undead and more
- Bombs, axes, chainsaws and probably some mystery items
- The classic stadiums with deadly pits and new traps
- New versions of plays that incorporate dirty tricks
- Stabilizability for each team from stats to names
- New jokes
So overall you can expect quite a bit that you would from the previous games just more.
The Mutant Football League Kickstarter
The Kickstarter itself includes what you would normally expect such as shout outs and copies of the game. They also have other bonuses such as:
- Trading Cards
- Portraits
- A Launch Party
Of course most of us will just be getting a normal package of course. We hope this game can live up to the lofty expectations set by the preceding games.
