With the official Minecraft 1.8, we are getting a ton of search hits on the basics. So we thought we would go down some of the new things about it.
We are going to give you a bulleted list for easy searching on Minecraft 1.8 topics. Update: The seeds here do not appear to all work with 1.9 beta and up.
- To fly, create a new world. You will be able to select creative mode in world options, you can also turn villages, etc, on or off. . You will need to double tap jump (space) to start flying, jump to go up and shift to go down. Double tap jump again to stop flying.
- So far we have found no solid evidence that towns and such spawn in a regular order without a seed. They seem to spawn where they feel like spawning, so you just have to search for them. Use this seed+creative mode+flight to find one of your own: 3750348205473973255. To use seeds, go into the world options that you can access when first making your world and put it in.
- Dungeons are quite random as well. Use this seed: 11743, to have some spawn in various places. They often show up near the surface of deserts.
- Strongholds often spawn below ground. Check seed 1448524118 to look for one. They contain some nice architecture.If you want to find them all, use seed 1448524118. Hit F3 to pull up a debug menu (single player), this is best done in creative mode. It will let you see your coordinates.
- Stronghold Coordinates: X: -873, Y: 35, Z: 44
- Village Coordinates: X: 178, Y: 65, Z: 148
- Dungeon/mine shaft: X: -876, Y: 22, Z: -12
- So far there is no benefit to gaining experience. This will come in a later update.
- You can now plant pumpkins and melons by using pumpkin and melon seeds.
- You can get a critical hit by hitting a mob while jumping, or fully charging the newly improved bow. You can hold your bow key to charge it. This allows you to attack their weak point for massive damage.
- Endermen take damage from water, useful if you need to get away.
- Watch out if you go to an abandoned mineshaft, a stronger variant of the spider shows up there.
- If you are looking for melon seeds, you can find them in chests in abandoned mine shafts. You can also craft them from 1 melon slice at a crafting table.
- Double tap forward to sprint.

I’ve downloaded the texture pack in my folder and i go to mods and texture packs on the minecraft screen it shows up and i click on it. But then i go to the game and its only the default map with no different features. Is there something wrong with my computer?.
You have to go into the options menu and select the pack. Other than that just make sure it’s in the right folder.

So I have Minecraft (up to 1.0.0) and for some reason I can’t find strongholds anywhere s: Even the Eye of Ender doesn’t work.
Your map might somehow not have one. You may have to make a new map, glitches aren’t uncommon. The Eye of the Ender is still the most secure way to find it.
In creative mode, why can’t I find Eye of Ender in my inevtory?
It’s right above the records. Either you are not looking hard enough or you don’t have the latest version.
Do villagers mate?
Not in the edition this was written about. In the current edition, they should if your game is working correctly.
