Minecraft 1.2 is out just for you

That’s right, Minecraft 1.2 is out and Jeb has really done some work. It’s actually the 1.2.1 patch. Not only have they created several new features for the AI, they also have new creatures.

The new Minecraft 1.2 changelog

  • New jungle biome
  • Added ocelots
  • Added cats

Minecraft 1.2 cat

  • Added iron golems
  • Added Redstone Lamps
  • New AI for mobs
  • Tame wolves can have puppies
  • Villagers will have children if there is room in their village
  • New map height limit (256 instead of 128)
  • New items and blocks
  • Doors have been updated so that double-doors work better with redstone
  • Added rare drops for mobs
  • Many other minor tweaks and fixes
  • Zombie Sieges at night. On hard the Zombies will even break down doors.

What these changes mean in a bigger way for Minecraft 1.2

The biggest changes are the new map height and the new AI for the mobs. It will be a completely different sort of game for those used to the old AI. And you can now build even bigger and more impressive cities in the sky. They also added some things which are mysterious. For example, there are now wells in the desert. These might be for aesthetic reasons, we just don’t know yet.

And also, Minecraft 1.2.2

Jeb uploaded another version in order to fix some things broken in the last patch. Overall 1.2.2 fixed birch and pine trees, snow and several biomes. However you can now unfortunately crash the game by building too high. Some of the tools and armor have their labels glitched as well. And Iron Golems become passive when in water, which is rather minor.

Jeb man, Jeb man, patching that game as fast as he can

It looks like Jeb has really put a lot of effort into this patch. We expect him to be up to 1.2.3 before too long. We are sure that the bugs will be eliminated eventually.
