Wild Season is a game in the Harvest Moon genre and style that is trying to evolve the overall formula from relationships to side events. We think it looks fun so it’s good enough to be in the double feature.
Wild Season and the Friend Zone
Hilariously they are calling one of their game aspects the Friend Zone Engine. You can be “labelled a stalker or weirdo” and put in the friend zone as the developers put it. While this is a bit strange we find it absolutely hilarious on so many levels. This is the main reason we decided to cover this game as it is what really stands out.
Wild Season and Harvest Moon
In just about every way you can imagine this game is Harvest Moon. They’re trying to add more depth to the relationships, events and other aspects on the side as well. While it’s not going to redefine the genre it looks like it has enough content to be quite fun. There will also be much more to do off the farm and many activities that do not center around it. That is really something that the genre needed. Early press releases even promise an adventure to save the world later in the game.
They are also using same sex relationships in the game. If this weren’t an indie game instead say, EA, they would be touted as progressive visionaries breaking the boundaries. As it is we think that is a fairly neat feature overall.
The Wild Season Kickstarter
The current rewards are things you would expect like copies of the game, artbooks and such. There are also extravagant goals such as designing the major NPC known as “the Hermit” and meeting with the team for a meal. Whichever you decide to go with we think the game has a chance to be really good in the end. If nothing else we thank them for naming their engine the “Friend Zone” and giving us a laugh.
