Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Episode 27 Review - Nerd Age

This episode begins the Stardust Crusaders arc. An incredibly important part of the series since it set up the gimmick: the Stand. Just about everyone along with all of their extended family seems to have some sort of stand in this section. Can it live up to the hype everyone has created? Let us see. We’re calling it 27 even though some just call it Stardust Crusaders 1.

The Rundown for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 27

Joseph is back to see his daughter and family. His grandson Jotaro Kujo is the newest Jojo in the line. However he has been thrown in jail for injuring several other students. He claims to be controlled by an “evil spirit” and does not want to hurt anyone.

Jotaro shows off the powers of his spirit by catching a bullet from a gun and even pulling a drink into his cell. Joseph is joined by a friend of his named Avdol who is there to get him out of the cell he won’t leave.

This leads to a short confrontation where the cell itself is destroyed by stands and Jotaro finally decides to leave. The rest of the episode deals with Joseph’s stand and the ability it has to find out info by destroying cameras. Dio is alive once again, with the body of their ancestor powering him up even further.

Thoughts on Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 27

So far it has lived up to the hype. Everyone is huge and the effects are way over the top. The vibrant art style is full of life and power, as we have come to expect. I believe this is going to be just as good as part 2 or maybe even a bit better.

However the same question remains as with the earlier episodes, can they keep up the quality of the art? The short answer is yes, the long answer is sometimes. We’ve seen lapses in the quality here and there but not so much that it wrecks the show. We’ll continue doing reviews as long as it stays good.
