The Indie Royale April Fools games
There is an interesting mix of bigger and smaller games from the indie scene this time. Let us check out each one and find out whether you might like it:
- Defense Grid is an acclaimed tower defense game. While the gameplay is quite fun it is nothing out of the ordinary. Where the game excels is in the storytelling. Follow a man who lost everything, and even gave up his humanity to save his family. Struggle and triumph to save the last vestiges of humanity.
- Hack, Slash, Loot is your fairly standard roguelike game. However it has a wealth of features for your character as well as a huge number of items and encounters. This is one meaty game.
- Alien Zombie Megadeath is a challenging platformer/shooter. You spend your time in one area, dodging shots from all directions. The unique art style and hectic pace set this game apart.
- Explodemon is a a homage to Megaman, but plays closer to A.R.E.S. with a variety of abilities available. This is only on Desura so far, no Steam key.
- Astro Tripper is a brutal shmup that plays like some older ones you may have enjoyed

Indie Royale April Fools Bonuses
Currently, they have sold enough copies that Defense Grid: the Awakening comes with free resurgence maps. You get a ton of extra gameplay, free of charge. Those who pay over the minimum also get Rock: Deluxe Edition. The Defense Grid alone is worth the price of admission, if you do not already have it.
