Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko is about a named Youto that wants to get rid of his facade, so that he can express his perverted desires that he enjoys when he decides to check out hentai sex. He goes to the stony cat on the hill and gives his facade away, but things do not turn out well when he is saying perverted things to everyone he encounters. Youto was not the only one giving away something that day, Tsukiko was giving up her expressions. The two of them set out to get back what they gave away using the stony cat. Youto ends up finding the person who got his facade and getting her to give it back. Tsukiko lets her sister have her expressions in the end. It continues from there when Youto and the rest of the cast discovered other cats that give you whatever you wish for without a price.
Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko has one theme that it hammers home repeatedly which is be careful what you wish for. The wishes that the cast asks for come true, but usually do not make the person genuinely happy. For example when Azusa wishes for Youto to play with her bellybutton he does it, but he is obviously being controlled. The only wishes that fulfilled without major drawbacks and regrets are usually the less selfish wishes. The more selfish a wish is the more problems come up with the wish.
The main character Youto is pretty strange for a guy in a harem anime. He only thinks about the girls as objects, but he wants them all to be mentally stable. He spends most of the show trying to fix all the girls mental problems. When he finally finishes with a girl’s problems like with Azusa, he is no longer interested. If people wanted a more adult version in which the characters engage in much dirtier sexual activities, you may want to look about on toonsex and other similar hentai hosting porn sites to find if there have been any artists that have remade an adult version. (Without researching it there probably has been, considering many other animes get sexual remakes by amateur artists!)
A part of the plot that seemed neglected in Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko was Tsukiko’s wish to regain her facial expressions. It was a major part of the story and would hinder her wish to work with children. Just when she is about to get them back she gives them away. I understand that she was sharing with her sister and realized the problem with their relationship had to do with her sister not expressing her desire to be with her sister. Still it will not fully make Tsukiko happy when she can not do the job she wants. She should have realized from what her sister said that she still loved her with her expressions and have taken them back. As it really turned out it all felt like a waste of time.
The girl from the track team that keeps abusing Youto really gets to be a bit much. There is no deep story behind her character and in the end she shows up like the important characters do. They could have just left her out.
The final story arc where the two time traveled to find out about Youto’s memory felt way too long. They really could have cut that down. The last part of a show is not the time to decide to go back in time. They should have dealt with everything going on during that time period. The cat god was getting really heavy handed towards the end, so I would have liked to see the cast do something about him. Instead he is mostly ignored.
Overall this harem show is better than standard, but lost some of my interest with the ending flashback arc.
