Hanasaku Iroha Review - Fest It Up with this review - Nerd-Age

Hanasaku Iroha is a show about Ohana who has to leave all she knows to go live in and work at an Inn with a grandmother she doesn’t really know.

Hanasaku Iroha doesn’t seem like the most interesting concept to begin with. Ohana has a mother that she had to take care of because she is lazy. That has been done before. Her mother abandons her and she has to move into a totally new environment. Has been done as well. When Ohana starts at the Inn most of the cast isn’t very friendly to her and she has to keep her head up despite obstacles. Once she establishes her place at the Inn is when I find the show the most interesting. Ohana shakes things up to a degree at an old fashioned Inn and helps the characters that surround her to grow.

The main character is the driving force in Hanasaku Iroha. She makes things happen all around her. Or at least that is the way it should be, but it often isn’t the case. Ohana is hardworking and confused as many young girls are. It makes her endearing and believable.

One of the themes that repeats in this show is relationships. They go into all different kinds of relationships in this show romantic, coworkers, family, and more. They show all different stages of romantic relationships from not being sure of your feelings to love of people who are dead. I think this adds a lot of the depth of the show.

Another theme of the show is going for your dreams. Most of the characters in this show have a dream that they are working towards or trying to work harder to keep their dream. This show also  goes into how your dream can change  and how you might have to go outside your comfort zone to achieve your dream.

This show sadly suffers from having really boring episodes that don’t seem to have much to do with the show. Those parts do come up again in the show, but it still feels tacked on. The makers probably could have cut out a few episodes and no one would have missed them.

Overall Hanasuka Iroha  is pretty good. This is one of the best slice of life shows I have seen lately. The themes are something that people all deal with. They are not presented in a stale fashion though. While the show has ups and downs in quality it doesn’t effect the show as a whole. The ending is especially good and better than I expected. I give Hanasuka Iroha  a 4/5.
