Playing Gas Guzzlers Extreme
This game combines aspects of Kart Racing like Mario Kart with the weapons of games like Twisted Metal. You play as a lone driver and upgrade your car. Throughout the races you compete in death-matches, knockout races and traditional racing modes.
Extremely Average Audio and Visuals
The best way to describe them is as functional. The graphics and sound are of average quality, with a variety of annoying driver voices you can turn off. Explosions sound and look like explosions. The cars are sleek and take battle damage which does look very nice. However none of these are absolutely amazing. We’re not fully sure how the graphics would look played on other devices; maybe a custom racing simulator can fare better in terms of giving a better audio and visual quality.

We’re reviewing this game quite a bit after release. As such we have not experienced any of the glitches other people are claiming the game has. It appears this current patch has brought the game into good working order.
The Addictive Quality of Gas Guzzlers Extreme
The one area where this game shines is making you want to play more of it. You can get cash rewards or even cars just for finishing in a high slot on the race. It really pushes you to keep going and unlock more cars. This is something all good racing games have. The team deathmatch mode is probably the most fun in the game as it puts you straight into the fighting. Multiplayer with friends can also be very fun.

Gas Guzzlers Extreme delivers an addictive experience with a good variety of content. The graphics are also decent but not amazing. Unfortunately the game does not push the envelope with anything. The weapon types, upgrades and much more are similar to many other car combat and kart racing games. The tracks have slight shortcuts that are easy to get to without much trouble. The AI is fine but not brilliant. While a fun play experience all around it neither pushes the envelope with mechanics nor has brilliant tracks. The fact that the game stays so close to the roots of the genre without trying anything new loses some points with us. It’s still a decent purchase at the current price point of $24.99 but you most likely will not be blown away by it.
