This is a Sacred Seven review, but perhaps a deconstruction would be a better fit.
He's pretty mad to be in such a bad show, as he should be.
Going into this I heard that Sacred Seven was terrible, but I tried to keep an open mind. Unfortunately, it’s generic, slow and at times even goofy. It’s your basic Sentai style show with a moody protagonist who has hidden powers.He apparently went berserk at some point and did some bad things. This makes him a brooding figure who doesn’t like things.
He has some shadowy organization with a grizzled old demon head and a young girl in it. They also have mecha which are useless for reasons I have yet to discern. The organization spends its time pestering this young boy and failing to stop evil form overrunning the world.
The main character has to step in after everything is screwed up, although he’s not happy about it. This leads to more pouting and angst over his powers. This is exactly what we like to see in a Sentai show, and does not miss the point of a Sentai show at all.
I hope he's turning into a gusher, I love those things.
But wait that’s not all, the artwork can’t decide if it wants to be average or horrible. Nothing particularly stands out or looks great, but don’t worry quite a bit of it is ugly. If you want something to hurt your eyes, just take a look at this.
Look, we ran out of money for our sweatshop animators. 25 cents is hard to come by.
I would say it’s dropped but I would rather not admit to picking it up in the first place. The only reason you would watch this is to laugh at the inherent goofiness. Some people have said that you should watch the show for the goofiness, which is understandable. You would never watch it for any other reason.
Overall if I were to put this on a scale, it would be a 1 out of 5. This show is so horrendously bad that I cannot stress the point enough to you. While I can’t suggest that you learn more about it, you can at Anime News Network.
