Devil May Cry is Capcom’s New DLC Machine

We were starting to think Capcom was going to do less DLC after their free update to Resident Evil 6. We were wrong. Vergil’s Downfall is going to be their new DLC for Devil May Cry.

Devil May Cry and Vergil’s Downfall

The new DLC will show an original story with Vergil. You get to play as him in a seperate story. It promises to have unique weapons, combos, enemies and locations. It will be available shortly after launch for 720 MS points or $8.99 on PlayStation Network.

Capcom does what they want with Devil May Cry

This is perhaps the most controversial decision Capcom has made recently. Not only have they ignored fan outcry against the relaunch, but DLC is the order of the day. DLC at or near launch, in fact, is the order of the day. It is a really puzzling concept for fans such as us. In this game in particular, and only this game, Capcom seems to have ignored all the feedback. It is just a strange situation. We have yet to hear any plausible explanation for this. They may be banking on the fact that Devil May Cry can pull through on sheer popularity. Without a doubt it has been one of the most popular franchises in Capcom history.

The new Devil May Cry itself

The game itself features a new Dante with a weird story. Reality bends in on itself. Dante can go to an other-world where he actually looks like his old self. This has caused a lot of controversy as well.

Our hope for the new Devil May Cry

Wouldn’t it be something if the twist is that his old self is the real Dante? It would be the greatest fake-out in game history. We certainly would like to see the redesign abandoned at mid game. I think many gamers would like to see this in Devil May Cry. If you are still interested in the game check out the official Devil May Cry site.
