Death in Candlewood is a particularly macabre take on the FPS genre. With very bizarre character models and gloomy but detailed locales we’re going to be taking a look at it.
Death in Candlewood in a Nutshell
The game is an open-world FPS which has a lot of influence from classic horror as well as Edgar Allen Poe, in their words. Environments are dark and you are going to be able to roam as much as you would like. They are promising 1,000 navigable buildings.
The game will also have the normal melee and ranged weapons you would expect. We hope to see a Tommy gun somewhere in there, just because it’s pretty great.
The Story of Death in Candlewood
Right now they only have things set up in vague terms. Ray Dune is the main character who is following a psychiatrist named Lester Caravan who is up to no good. Someone or something has kidnapped your adopted son and you have to find out what is going on.
The Team Behind Death in Candlewood
As with so many other developers a few key players have broken off into a new studio. Rosebud Games is a studio made up of those who previously worked on Bioshock, F.E.A.R. and the Witcher. They’re also claiming to have someone from Silent Hill which we will look into. For an FPS game it does look like they have the team to make a competent title.
Supporting the Death in Candlewood Kickstarter
The higher levels in this game get you some serious input. They’ll consult you on design or even create a “level” of the game for you. We’re wondering what they mean by level when it’s a sandbox game but we’ll see later. For those who want a bit less you can get two copies. Overall it looks like they’ve planned it well so take a look right here.
