Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge is about a girl with hair that can not be cut and killing goods. The girl with hair that can not be cut is called the Hair Queen and when she reincarnates supernatural items known as killing goods gain special powers and cause people to feel the urge to murder. People whose ancestors were murderers have a chance of becoming the author or owner of killing goods which will give them this urge to murder. In order to lose that urge and get a wish granted the authors are trying to murder the Hair Queen. There is an author getting in their way because his killing good is a pair of scissors which lead to him cutting the Hair Queen’s hair and falling in love with her.
Even after watching the whole series Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge I still do not understand how they have kept these killing goods that they have. Shouldn’t these items have been with the police or in the trash somewhere because they are so old. Especially the syringe that Yamane uses should not be hanging around. Syringes are not kept around and used repeatedly. Did she get it off a family druggie?Also Emily’s large number of knives stretches my ability to believe as well. Did they go collecting every knife that might have been involved in a killing that they could get their hands on? Stretching my ability to believe the basic premise of this show really hurt it for me.
Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge also seemed to be trying to see how many fetishes they could fit into one show. There are lolis, S&M, hair fetishism, and more for fans to enjoy. These parts were not very subtle either like with the policewoman and the erotic asphyxiation. The show spent more time making every little thing very sexual and less time making the show interesting.
The thing that hurt Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge the most for me though was that just as soon as the show started to get more interesting it was over. Just when Kiri had revealed his true power and was ready to be a contender with high level authors it is over. While he was easily able to take out Emily, she was just a child and the other “made to order” authors were adults. They might be able to handle it and then what would Kiri do. Also there was not enough time dedicated to finding out how Kiri felt about his new power because a large portion of the final episode was dedicated to two naked young girls gossiping in the bath. Not the best use of the time left in my opinion.
There were decent aspects of Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge to consider as well. The artwork for this show was very good with excellent use of light in the backgrounds. It had perhaps some of the best artwork I have seen in a television series. It felt like a bit of a waste when some of it went to showing two people licking a whip. The clip show at the end to show some of what comes after was nice as well. It was a decent way of showing what the series was not long enough to show. Neither of these balance out the negatives of this show.
