Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san Z is not for children or adults who are not into fetishes and violence. Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san Z is a sequel to a show by almost exactly the same name. It is about a detective agency that uses demons to ‘help’ their clients. This season does not involve actually involve much detective work.
After watching the original Azazel-san I did not think Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san Z could go much further than the original. I was wrong this show is possibly even more disturbing than the original. The hemorrhoid episodes were so gross I stopped watching the show at that point and did not watch it again until recently. It is not just the hemorrhoids though. The show seems to have lost some of its ability to gross people out while still being amusing. Now it is just trying to use pure shock factor most of the time. The best part of this sequel was the final three episodes when they had the story about Azazel and his girlfriend. That portion felt more like the original to me.
At certain points Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san Z seemed to have lost its way entirely. The two murder mystery episodes at the hot spring were totally different than any other episodes I have seen. There were no demons or angels involved besides Azazel and they were actually doing detective work. Usually detective work just means finding out who is controlling a demon or making bad things happen to people. Actually solving a case out of the goodness of their hearts is so weird. Even weirder is that the ending was a happy one instead of sad or disturbing.
Towards the end of the series Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san Z was really trying hard to get pity from the audience for Azazel. Everything was about how pitiful he was and how his girlfriend is screwing him over in addition to his job. Having the audience pity Azazel seems pretty pointless right before the end of the series. The only good reason for that would be to get people to feel something for the characters besides disgust. They are not very likeable. Rinko is the most likeable being a pawn of Akutabe’s, but she still is not pure and has the demons do a lot of the bad things they do.
