Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm Indiegogo

A new game from some of the developers of King of Fighters is coming out, Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm. While the name is a bit of a mouthful the game is looking very good so far. If you are a fan of KoF like many of us are then you may want to take notice.

Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm and Gameplay

The game itself follows the fighter formula we have come to expect. There will be a variety of rushdown and zoning characters for you to enjoy. Of course they will also be trying a few new things such as a character who “defies gravity” as they put it.

The game is also going to have GGPO netcode. This is a staple for fighting games now so we hope it works well.

The Art of Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm

The art itself looks quite a bit like King of Fighters and Last Blade. We would assume that this is no accident due to artist Kotani Tomoyuki. It looks quite smooth and impressive all around. The background also look very good and we hope to see them polished even more in the final version.

Our Only Concern about Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm

While we really like that they are staying close to older games we hope they break out of the mold a bit somewhere. We wouldn’t want to just have another old King of Fighters. There are plenty of games like that. However the final version should try some new things.

This project is also interesting because it’s showing old developers breaking off through crowdfunding. We are seeing this more and more as people get fed up with the AAA status quo.

Supporting the Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm Indiegogo

At the time of this writing they are several thousand away from their goal. However they are close and have about six days left. If you enjoyed the older games and want to support some developers breaking off from the main community then have a look at their page. We will probably be donating to it a bit ourselves.
