Worms Revolution Free Weekend - A Better Formula - Nerd Age
19
The Worms Revolution Free Weekend is on right now. We really enjoyed this game so we want to go over it yet again.
Advancing with the Worms Revolution Free Weekend
Many people have derided Team 17 for their games. Even other developers have taken a poke at them. We still supported them but it was becoming understandable with the many similar games. Fortunately Worms Revolution was a breath of fresh air. It has a host of improvements:
- New physics from fire to water
- Objects that interact with the play area
- Classes that actually change how the game plays
- A new mix of graphics with classic gameplay
- New modes
These things really added to the game and improved it greatly. It is a clear step in the right direction. So we do want to focus on this older company responding to modern concerns.
The Team 17 Catch 22
Unfortunately the game has received some less-than-stellar reviews over time. It seems that some people are tired of the formula. This is a bit of a catch 22 for the company as they are too small to really pay off reviewers. They seem to be damned if they do change the formula and damned if they do not. As a small company that is in a similar boat to them we find this situation rather deplorable. They should be lauded for all the additions they have made to the formula.
Of course some of the criticism is fair as we were not overly thrilled with Worms Crazy Golf. However the differences between the two games are like night and day.
Trying the Game
Right now you can try the Worms Revolution Free Weekend on Steam. You can also simply buy it for $7.49 USD at the time of this writing. The game also has some packages and DLC that you can get. However the base game is quite enjoyable.
