Ubisoft E3 2012 Press Conference Review

We start off the Ubisoft E3 2012 conference on a great note, which is Flo Rida assaulting our eardrums. Usher and Flo Rida, both in one E3. That is a shame. We also had a hilariously rude woman open up the conference by demeaning some poor guy in the back. Of course later on he made a note of saying it was all scripted. She would later make things very uncomfortable by mentioning “girl wood.” Although about halfway through their fighting got creepy, and did not really seem fake. Try to save your relationship troubles for after the conference, people. If they are a comedy duo, this is not working.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Rude Woman

Chill out, lady.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 and Partial Nudity

While we won’t have the picture up, Far Cry 3 starts out with tattoos and partial nudity. So they really seem to be appealing to a male demographic.  You are also now Kurtz from the book Heart of Darkness. Or Colonel Kurtz, pick whichever one. The game seems pretty similar to the old one, but the graphics do look good. The game features some very strange visuals. They are also promising the largest game yet.

Ubisoft E3 2012 and Fan Feedback

They also had fans on Facebook give feedback to some guy in the back. Which was, alright, but not mind-blowing. Considering they obviously picked a few of them.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Sam Fisher

The New Splinter Cell Blacklist

Unfortunately this was just a cinematic trailer. No gameplay on this one, sorry.Should be some a bit later.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Marvel Avengers Battle for Earth

Marvel Avengers The Battle for Earth

Also no gameplay. We can only guess it will be fairly similar to the older Marvel games. If you love this genre, this should work quite well.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Rayman for Wii U

New Rayman Game for Wii U

We actually got to see some gameplay for this game. It will be a strange take on Rayman. You can bring up to 5 players on a traditional adventure. We are thinking this might be pretty good. Since platformers are well suited to the Wii overall. The other characters will also have special abilities. So this is looking quite promising.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Zombi

Ubisoft E3 2012 New Zombie Game

They also showed off a trailer with Zombies in what we can assume is Britain. No gameplay here either, sensing a theme.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Assassin's Creed 3

Assassin’s Creed 3

Probably the most anticipated game out of the Ubisoft lineup, we got  a trailer. As we already knew, we will be getting a new Assassin who will interact with some famous figures from George Washington to Benjamin Franklin. We did get to see a bit of gameplay though, and it is looking good. There are tons of trees in this one, which will help you feel even more like Spiderman. Strangely, hunting seems to be a part of this new one. NPCs are especially abundant in this game, not that they were scarce in the others. Blocking guns with bodies is also a major part of this one. It featured some very impressive kills that you might expect. Also this game has icebergs, which was something the series was really missing all along.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Shootmania

Shootmania?

They also had a ton of significant players for some strange game called Shootmania. While it doesn’t look great, they are billing it as a game for hardcore players. We’ll see when the game actually comes out. They are apparently marketing this hard as the choice for hardcore shooters. They also had a montage of some rather underwhelming other games they have made. Such as the Settlers Online and Ghost Recon Online.

Ubisoft E3 2012 Watch Dogs

Watch_Dogs – a Strange New Game

This is perhaps the most interesting and impressive game that they brought to the show. You play as a man who can hack nearly any device. You use your abilities to hunt down those who have tricked the world. You are there to bring them to some form of justice. The music also seems quite nice, and you appear to have many ways to influence your environment through information. You can even tap phones and listen to conversations. It also features bone-crunching action similar to Assassin’s Creed. We would go so far as to say Ubisoft wins E3 due to this. At least for now.

I thought Watch Dogs was the most interesting game of all E3.
New IPs are of course by design more interesting than sequels and this even seemed to try something new. Once they started shooting gun and ducking behind cars, it was a little disappointing to realize that it was not THAT innovative and would still involve the ol’ duck & cover third person shooter, which has been done to death.
However I am still impressed because to even pitch a new IP is hard/risky for AAA games and their publishers, and here we even have something that makes an attempt of being innovative – can’t be that bad.
