Tridek: Creatures of Galena is a new online card game that stands out for one reason: they want full cross-platform functionality across all versions. That alone left us interested in this game because all companies should strive for this, but few are.
The Tridek: Creatures of Galena Story
The story focuses on Planet Galena and the creatures that inhabit it. The native inhabitants have been controlled by colonizing humans. Tridek is a competitive sport that the colonists play against each other using these creatures. We find the whole thing rather oddly reminiscent of Pokemon.
The Tridek: Creatures of Galena Gameplay
In Tridek: Creatures of Galena you summon various creatures to attack defend and give you resources. You collect victory points when creatures win battles. Smaller creatures give more victory points and larger ones give less. There is also a system of support cards known as “hacks” that buff or debuff creatures.
Truly Cross-platform
The designers are trying to create a netcode that will let people play across all versions of the game. Versions include PC, Mac and various mobile versions. Android and other mobile setups will be fully supported. They are marketing the game towards tablet PCs. However if they can really get working netcode between all these versions it would be excellent. There would be a huge play base to choose from between the various consoles.
Backing Tridek: Creatures of Galena
Right now the game is having a Kickstarter to build funds. Donations have various rewards from copies of the game to thank-you videos from the team. You can also get mentions in the credits of the game like usual. Overall we think they have a big task ahead of them with creating working netcode. However if they can find a way to make the whole thing work it could be a shining example of cross-platform integration gaming needs today.
