Sword Art Online episode 25 is just there to wrap up all the loose ends. Nothing of importance to see here.
The episode starts with a fight in the real world between Sugou and Kirito. This fight did not even need to happen. Sugou was not going to get away with all this even if he killed Kirito. Also everyone should know by now that Kirito always finds amazing skills when under pressure, even in the real world. So there was never any doubt that he would come through this alive. Seeing what the game did to Sugou was pretty striking, since I have heard a million times about what it can do to a person, but there have been no signs of anything so far before the damage to Sugou.
Being in Sword Art Online and then Alfheim Online seems to have really change Kirito from the beginning. During this fight and the last one Kirito seems to just go berzerk. The real life fight mirrored the one in the game a lot in Kirito’s ferocity towards Sugou after practically cowering before him. I wondered for a bit if he was really going to slit Sugou’s throat. He was working himself up to doing it for a while.
I think there was not enough Asuna in this episode since this whole season was dedicated to getting her back. There was still a lot of emphasis on Kirito’s sister Sugu, when she should have been taking more of a backseat with Asuna back in the picture. Like 5 whole minutes of the two of them dancing and looking at the Aincrad. That should have been showing more of the relationship between Asuna and Kirito. It they are going to wrap things up for a whole episode then they should do it right.
As I thought at the end of the last episode, there was no reason to really put this episode in. Most of the things that were shown in this episode were told to us before, fights that did not matter, or opening the series up for another sequel. The true ending for me was at the end of the last episode.
Nice to see you again guys that tried to hook up in the beginning.
