In Sword Art Online episode 21 Kirito and Leafa finally make it to the city at the base of the world tree where they log off. Later in the real world, Kirito takes his sister Sugu to see Asuna in the hospital. While that is going on Asuna is trying to make her escape, but gets sidetracked checking out the people being used as experiments. That leads to Asuna being caught by the scientists which have slug like bodies.
This episode of Sword Art Online has a choice of fanservice for your enjoyment we have Sugu’s feelings for Kirito who grew up as her brother and Asuna getting capture by tentacles. While they show some important things in this episode it is surrounded by so much fanservice that you have to pick through it to find it. I was looking forward to Asuna’s efforts to get away, but I did not expect it to go like this. It could have been much better.
I will never understand why Asuna decided to take a detour while trying to get away to go check out the lab. She already knew what was happening with the people there. If she wanted to help them, then the best way to do so would be to get away to the real world and tell someone what is going on. There was going to be someone monitoring that area, since it is so important. The chances of getting caught there were always going to be high. I can only guess that she has no user interface since she is not a standard player and was looking for a special way to log out. There had to be a better way than that though. At least she came out of it with the card, so she will be better off if she ever gets out again.
The whole piece with Sugu and Kirito in the hospital is harping on the same theme as usual. When will Sugu finally give up? Going to see Asuna was silly and was bound to only hurt her. Right now while Asuna is unconscious there is no way for Sugu to get into Kirito’s affections because she is on a pedestal. Maybe there would be a chance when Kirito and Asuna meet up in the real world that they would not have the same connection. Sugu can not compete with a memory though especially not as someone Kirito sees as a sister.
Having the real life aspects thrown in was nice though, like where Kirito would go to school. Missing two years of their lives would mess up schooling for all the students inside Sword Art Online. Especially in a place with competitive testing for schools like Japan. So having a school they could go to without having to test in would be one worry off the minds of the people returning from the game. Also they would probably be given more help there to make up for the all they would have forgotten while they were out of school.

It is mating time for the digital slug, so the alpha male sends the beta off on an errand. He promises the beta that nothing will happen, but obviously this is alpha male trickery.
After the beta leaves the alpha wraps his tentacles around the female to start the ritual.
Then he gently touches the female’s lips.
Nothing excites the digital slug like a female’s lips.
When the male is done, he returns the female to her home until next time. What beautiful creatures these digital slugs are, so until next time.
