Sword Art Online episode 10 covers a lot of ground from the fight with the guild leader, to Kirito almost getting killed, and finally Kirito proposing to Asuna.
After last the episode of Sword Art Online revealed the special ability of dual wielding, I was not expecting much from the guild master’s special ability. For a while I was afraid it was going to be really lame like something having to do with using both sword and a shield. Maybe a special technique with them, but nothing impressive. With the way the fight ended I am just confused though. Is Heathcliff able to stop time? I thought he raised his defense and attack? It was probably just poor choices on Kirito’s part and bad reaction time to Heathcliff’s attack. I wish the show had revealed more about his ability, instead of leaving it pretty vague.
The confrontation with Kuradeel in this episode pissed me off quite a bit. Asuna’s hesitation when dealing with a known killer was frustrating. She knew that he had killed the forward commander and almost killed Kirito. She should have shown no mercy, there is no room for it in this game. It is sad that she can not even trust people from her own guild though. Lucky for her, hands come back in this game even if people cannot come back to life. It does get rid of the romantic gesture of getting harmed for someone you love if the arm comes right back. She could have taken the hit so it was all pretty pointless. Also since when can Kirito slice someone with just his bare hand?
Some of the many faces of Kuradeel.
The Laughing Coffin guild comes up yet again. I wonder if they are going to be a major part of the big storyline or this is just a coincidence that they keep coming up. Kuradeel could have been on a mission for them. Maybe that was why he was so stuck on being with Asuna all the time. He could have been getting information from all his time around her. Then again it could have all just been a plot to act out sick killings like this where the victims who trusted him have to helplessly watch him kill them.
Nothing makes you want to make out like getting a hand cut off.
The part of the episode with Asuna getting undressed was made pretty awkward by having to use the interface to get undressed. Some of the sexual nature of slowly revealing the body is lost when everything disappears at once with a click on an interface. Being suddenly revealed to Kirito seemed disturbing to Asuna as well.
