Street Fighter X Tekken has revealed a huge amount of information on their game setup and modes.
Street Fighter X Tekken fans have been teased by Capcom over characters and details, but they have come clean on special modes and a bit of story. The story will center around a mysterious box called “Pandora” which gives creatures great strength when exposed to conflict.
The second big reveal is something we pretty much already knew but few games have used. You can go online and team up with a friend as a two-man team. This is very exciting as you don’t see this a lot in fighters. Most fighters from any company just have one person controlling each character.
This is a really nice addition to the game. Hopefully lag won’t cause any problems while switching characters. To make it even more interesting and useful, you can even invite a friend to practice combos online with you, and you can both be on the same team.
The final reveals are the most exciting: a crazy 4 player mode and the “Pandora” ability. Some other, much smaller fighters have done 4 player modes but this is a first for Street Fighter or Tekken. You will be able to go online and have an insane 4 player battle with your friends. It is very exciting to see these games try something new. This mode will be called Scramble Mode. No word yet on whether it will be teams only or you can set it to free-for-all.
They also explained Pandora mode. You sacrifice your other character in order to gain a huge amount of boosted abilities. This is similar to mechanics in SNK vs Capcom. It is quite nice as now players can use the team dynamic or decide to just use one character that they are best with. Giving players more choices is always good.
