Coffee Stain Studios is publishing a strange take on the FPS platformer. A Story About My Uncle features a beautiful world where you use a Nintendo Power Glove to explore. Okay maybe that’s not exactly what it is but it sure looks like it. Still there are a few reasons to talk about it.
The Visuals of A Story About My Uncle
Perhaps the most impressive part of the game so far is the visuals. Each area has beautiful mountains, clouds or even nicely designed interiors. So we can say the game really does look good so far.
Will A Story About My Uncle Stand Out?
The game itself is supposed to be non-violent with all the challenge taking place in the platforming. So far from what we seen it just features hook grappling as its main gameplay element.
This worries us a bit because there are more than 10 FPS platformers at least in development that are likely going to come out around the same time. If they can’t mix up the gameplay they’re going to be washed away in the sea of others. Still the game does look good and we hope they innovate the formula some.
Just A Story About My Uncle
The game’s story itself is exactly that. Somehow a young boy’s uncle has gone missing. When he goes to explore he finds a technologically advanced glove and a way to another world. A strange world filled with some very high altitudes. Where it goes from there we will have to wait and see.
A Story About My Uncle on Steam
It will be released shortly for Steam on May 28th. We believe the developers are banking on the graphics and story carrying it. That’s going to be a very tall order for so their sake we hope it can live up to expectations.
