Steam Summer Sale 2012 is now on - Indie sales. - Nerd Age

Wanting to get games for cheap is something a lot of us gamers relate to, it can be an expensive hobby after all. You’ll often see many fellow gamers go to GameStop’s pre-owned isle or website like https://www.raise.com/coupons/ebay to get deals on games. But did you know can get brand new games at a discount (if you’re not fussed for owning a physical disc)? That’s why for digitally distributed games there is perhaps nowhere cheaper than the famous Steam Summer Sale.

The Steam summer sale is perhaps the place to get significant savings on games you can download straight to your computer and it is now on. Log in and head over to the front of the store page to see what deals they’re handing out for that day. There are flash sales (limited time) and, more traditional discounts that last the whole season.

This year it seems that the Reddit spoilers were right and that Steam are having several indie bundle deals running over time. You can also get some badges by voting on various games to become the next flash sale. If you vote enough times, you can even get an upgraded version of the badge. Interesting way to get the community interested in the sale.

Some Indie Games going on Sale

Our focus is on indie gaming, so we are going to give you a list of some of the better games that are going to be on the Summer Sale this year. Right now for example, The Legend of Grimrock is on sale. But let us go down a few of the better games that are going to be bundled:

• Botanicula
• Bit Trip Beat
• Atom Zombie Smasher
• Ys: The Oath in Felghana
• Ticket to Ride
• Dungeons of Dredmor
• Swords and Soldiers HD
• Hoard
• Beat Hazard

There are also going to be the normal collections, such as the Sega Collection which is looking pretty good. These are basically the same good deals you have seen many times before that they run every year.

Do the Steam Summer Sale Badges do anything?

Not that we can tell so far. They appear to be purely cosmetic. Some people are having wishful thinking and hoping they do something. But it is really not looking like it at this moment. Of course we will not find out for sure until this particular event is over and everyone has achieved everything on them.

Again, these are all digitally distributed games that require you to download them to your computer and for Steam to be open if you wish to play them. If that’s not your thing and you prefer to have a physical disk there’s always eBay and GameStop. Though not all the indie classics we’ve listed have physical copies available. Either way, have a good bargain hunt!
