Streamers from all over are being invited to take part in the SpecialEffect GameBlast event. The rules are simple, get a team together and stream for 12 to 24 hours in order to raise money for charity. Events like these shape the streaming industry.
The above video shows where the money is going.
The GameBlast Event Itself
Basically the goal here is to get as many streamers as possible getting money in. There aren’t really any rules, just a suggestion of how long you should stream from the core company. It is coming up next month though so be sure to check it out. The dates will run from February 21-23 this year. Overall it seems like an interesting event and we will be looking forward to how people handle everything.
The Benefits of GameBlast Events for Streamers
First off, and while this is no reflection on the charity, it makes some very terrible streamers look saintly. Even someone like DSP who actually creates his career on being hated could turn things around with it. It also looks good to new fans who don’t know how things were in the past.

These events also often have a hashtag and other promotion so that you can continue to build a user base there. In the modern age cross promotion is much more important than good content. In this way even a small stream can find itself catapulted to greatness.
