Space Hulk Now on Steam

Space Hulk was recently released on Steam and other platforms. Those of you who were fans of the board game are probably the main audience. So we want to go over the features the game has at launch.

The Space Hulk Release

Right now the graphics are quite nice and functional for a game like this. While they aren’t amazing they look good across a variety of platforms. The interface is fairly good and we’re sure they will work on it even more over time. The main drawing point is the fact that it’s set in the 40K universe. Those who love Space Marines can enjoy playing Terminators both at their most brutal and vulnerable within the confines of a damaged Space Hulk. The game also has some DLC but it is just skins for the various Tyranids. Only hardcore fans would really need to buy this. It consists of:

  • A Hive Fleet Kraken Skin
  • A Black/Green Skin
  • The Bonedust Skin

We hope that they avoid too many expansions that have a big in-game effect. If they started doing too many of those they might stray from the original game that so many of us love. The game is currently getting a mixed reception as some who did not play the original board game find it too simplistic. Others also have nostalgia goggles on, of which we could be accused of as well. We should just be happy it didn’t turn out as buggy as Bloodbowl.

Getting Space Hulk on PC and Mac

The Steam Space Hulk page is up right now. You can get it for $29.99 or a two-pack for $49.99. This is a bit pricey for a game like this but many hardcore fans will probably be getting it anyway. Time will tell whether this becomes something just for those fans or if it can expand the fan base. The game will also be coming to the Apple store and other locations a bit later.

Shit review, maybe you should take notes from Rock Paper Shotgun on how to write a REAL Space Hulk article.
