Space Dandy has heavily relied on comedy and action. Dandy himself has been portrayed as a perverted self centered man that did not care that much about anyone not even the rest of his crew. He was always out for number one. That is what has made episode 5 of Space Dandy feel so refreshing and sweet.
Space Dandy episode 5 has shown a whole new side to Dandy. Dandy takes care of the Adelie like she was his own taking her fun places, introducing her to new tastes, watching out for her, and making sure she got to be with the grandfather she needed even when it would hurt himself. Even while doing all these things that he would not normally do he still acted like himself. He was still immature and would not admit that he liked her to the end even while showing her how much he cared. The whole episode was done well. It could have easily done the same kind of episode while just ignoring what Dandy has been like the whole time and making the episode feel out of place.
Space Dandy is a comedy at heart so I am glad to see that for the next episode it is going back to a normal comedy episode. Having an episode or two like episode 5 makes them more special since the viewer does not always get to see the nicer sides of the characters. I hope we get a more serious episode about Meow or QT at some point as well. Getting to know a bit more about them would be nice as well.
One thing I am hoping does not come out of this to ruin the feel of the whole episode is that little girl actually growing up quickly and finding Space Dandy. I have seen some people speculating or hoping that that would happen and it would ruin the whole feel of the episode for me. Unless Dandy could not see her as a woman because of what happened between that is the only way that would work for me.
