Sony E3 Conference

Sony is geared up to try and fix their pr image, but this overall lackluster showing won’t do the trick.

The first big Sony reveal was Uncharted 3. It does look good graphically, but then it is just another Uncharted game. Other big releases include Resistance 3, which once again looks good but is just another sequel. And continuing our theme of sequels, Sly Cooper is getting yet another one. But hey, at least it isn’t another FPS cookie cutter continuation.

2K Games released their E3 trailer for Bioshock Infinite. Irrational games explained how Sony convinced them to stop hating the PS move. At this point you may be sensing a  theme, and that them is Sony is bringing you a ton of sequels in every direction.

They announced a ton of move games of varying quality, many borrowing from what Wii has already done. They also announced that many games that didn’t really need move functionality were also going to get it. Bottom Line: Almost all the games they announced were move games.

Sony also announced the Playstation Vita, a new handheld. A chorus of boos erupted when it was announced AT&T would be handling the service. Sony also allowed a man who had just eaten 3 hamburgers to stutter through a presentation of their Vita dungeon crawl “Ruin”. He wasn’t quite as good as the giant enemy crab guy, but he brought some decent laughs to a presentation which bored me out of my mind.

The huh, what moment was when they revealed Cole from infamous would be in Capcom X Tekken. Sony also killed part of our soul by filling a large amount of time with a DJ, drums and dancers who looked bored. It was a very strange and confusing part of the presentation which was symbolic of the presentation as a whole. That is to say, it was lackluster and underwhelming. You can check it out if you missed it here.

A Sony rep is bored.
