Skullgirls final character confirmed: Double

While the character had already been spoiled on the internet for some time, Skullgirls has confirmed their final character: Double.

The fun has been doubled

Double is a very strange-looking character. She is somewhere between a woman and any number of horror characters. She had previously been spoiled in some leaked info. However, her character model looks a bit different from what we saw in earlier  images.

How she doubles the fun

Double has a base form of a nun, with some horrifying animations. Many of her moves are altered attacks of other characters. For fighting fans, this means she will likely have different frame data and slightly different hitboxes. Double also has some moves that were supposed to be put into other characters. It will be interesting to see how powerful she is, especially being an unusual character like Shang Tsung/Seth. She could either be incredibly powerful or practically useless depending on how the moves are handled.

The backstory of Double

Double is your typical mysterious character of the Skullgirls roster. It seems to simply exist to aid the current Skullgirl. This would give double a sort of mini-boss theme that we’ve seen previously with Testament in the original Guilty Gear. Double’s stage is a grand cathedral where it stays most of the time.

With this, the roster is wrapped up. It has been stated several times that there will be DLC characters later on. Rumors are flying of characters such as “Umbrella” and “Bloody Marie” but these have not bee confirmed. So far they are still pushing for an early 2012 release. However, the current release date we have access to simply says “2012”. It will be out for PS3 and Xbox 360. Be sure to check out their site and the page on Double. We are eagerly awaiting this impressive game.
