Silent Hill goes from survival horror to Diablo- we're serious

Silent Hill is turning into a top-down multiplayer shooting fest with magic powers. Yes, we are serious. A major fan favorite series is getting butchered yet again.
Silent Hill: Book of Memories will feature an absolutely dreadful mix of Silent Hill atmosphere and lackluster combat. We just want to point out that yes, Senior Associate Producer Tomm Hulett just doesn’t get it.
Tomm points out in this video that “fans needn’t worry” because it will be keeping lots of things that work in Survival Horror but won’t be fun in a top down shooter. To reiterate, he doesn’t get why this is a bad idea.
“Limited resources” are mentioned, but you can clearly see one character blowing up every enemy around him with what we can assume is magic. Limited resources and being scared doesn’t work when you can blow up everything around you.
Now let us go on why this isn’t going to work on the level of a multiplayer shooter.
1. Scarce resources make these types of games less fun. The fun of this genre comes from killing things, having to melee 10 million enemies will not be fun.
2. Scare Rooms do not work in this genre if they are done on the basis of “X jumps out”. It only works when facing overwhelming odds, which the trailer did not show.
3. Story takes a back seat to mindless hacking in these types of games. The best part of Silent Hill 2, among other SH games, was the story. Even if they work hard on it story will still be in the background.
The game being on the PlayStation Vita doesn’t make this okay. There is good news though, fans have already started the hate for this monumental mistake. Please visit the gameplay video and add to the already large amount of dislikes. Perhaps Tomm will get it if he is beaten over the head with the realization that this is not what fans want.
