Shame on us for not mentioning Serious Sam 3 yet. One of the most enjoyable FPS games ever made is going back to its roots very soon. Many classic enemies will be returning, first and foremost the Headless Kamikaze. Devolver Digital will be developing this game as usual, so they probably won’t screw it up.
Many classic weapons such as the Rocket Launcher will be returning in Serious Sam 3: BFE. Overall there are many new weapons in all categories. The melee combat also looks more intense than ever, with context specific attacks that will lead to flying body parts. Overall it really looks like a leap ahead into a new generation for Sam. It just better be as funny as the viral makes it look.
Get ready for ultimate headless action.
This time Serious Sam will be going multiplatform early on, he’ll be on Windows, PS3 and Xbox 360. Another important part of the game that will be returning is the multiplayer, with up to 16 player co-op in this new version. As with many sequels, this game will be a prequel which shows how Lord Mental’s Horde actually took over the earth.
Another thing developers want to stress is cover. There is no cover, you will have enemies smash through it. The developers are trying to tell you don’t rest, this isn’t Gears of War. This isn’t a cutscene. Get moving. Another thing we won’t be seeing is a lot of cutscenes interrupting the action like Modern Warfare. In an industry crowded by cookie cutter FPS’s this will be a breath of fresh air for many fans.
But we want to ask one last question. If Serious Sam managed to kill so many enemies as they invaded earth, why is he getting attacked by hundreds of minions in Serious Sam 1? At this rate the story will end with Serious Sam 10: Geriatric Fury.
