Samurai Flamenco episode 16 establishes what happened to almost every character in the show after the big hero round up in episode 15. The loose ends with Mari after the King Torture were wrapped up with her coming to terms with what happened that day and rejoining her singing group. Samurai Flamenco gets to the lowest place he has been since the beginning of the show and almost goes against his code to never harm anyone by stealing a bun when he was starving. He is finally given food by a man down on his luck and gets to hear the story about how Samurai Flamenco gave that man hope in his life again. The man also gives Samurai Flamenco an idea about who he should go to for help.
Samurai Flamenco has not only changed in the direction of becoming about Flamenco being a fugitive it is also going back to the original cast. They finally revisited Mari’s feelings after she was captured by King Torture. Now that the group is back together maybe they can help Flamenco out again. Also now Flamenco is back with his buddy Gotou. This may get some of the viewers that were pissed off after the Guillotine Gorilla change back, but it is probably too late for that now.
The part of the episode of Samurai Flamenco and the homeless man was the most touching moment of the series. Samurai Flamenco saved him from smugglers which caused the homeless man to want to help others and made him happy for the first time in years. This came at the best time since Flamenco was starting to regret all he had ever done and consider it selfish even though he had helped others. Even though things went wrong in the end not everything he had done was a mistake. The homeless man helped him to see that he had made a difference for others and gave Samurai Flamenco a reason to keep fighting against the government.
The episode was not all touching moments, actually there was a lot of touching in the lesbian make out scene as well. That was one of my least favorite scenes in the whole show. While Moe had a huge crush on Mari the whole time, Mari has not really shown strong feelings for her. So all of the sudden when they make up there is a weird make out scene where they even try to drag in Mizuki. It just felt really unneeded and just thrown in for fanservice. It also took away from the scene with Mari reliving her time with King Torture and throwing up.
