Sabagebu is about a girl that transfers a lot who has just started at a new school. Momoka is on her way to her new school when a pervert tries to grab her and a strange girl frightens him away with a gun. Momoka shortly afterwards finds out that strange girl goes to her school and is part of a survival game club at the school. Mio tries to get Momoka to join the club and gets Momoka ostracized from her peers instead. At least until Mio tricks her. Then Momoka is stuck as part of the weird club.
The biggest problem I have with Sabagebu is that I feel like I have seen this show before. Survival or gun club of all girls is becoming a trend. Did not like the idea of a girl’s survival club to begin with and like it even less each time I see it. They all seem to have the same patterns and types of girls in them. I have to wonder if these shows are doing well enough that the studios feel the need to keep making them or if it is just easy to keep making the same show. Hopefully this one will be the last.
The special things that Sabagebu brings to this trend hardly matter. There seems to be a bit more comedy in this show than in other shows of this type. For instance one of the girls like to cosplay and walks around in a monster costume that she claims is a ghillie suit. Also the girls are a bit less militant than usual. There is also a goofy narrator to liven the show up a bit.
Overall it is a more humorous lighthearted take on girls obsessed with guns. It is probably one of the best of these I have seen, but I still started to fall asleep while watching it.
