Russia is a country wracked by bad government and even worse DOTA players with the exception of one player and his team. Now they are trying to rebuild their civilization and are publicizing a convention to do this. Igromir is a combination of a comic con, game con and other international events.
IgroMir, Russian for Gaming World
Events started in 2006 with various levels of turnout. Cosplayers and gamers from all over Russia and in recent years all over the world have come. As you may expect it has the normal mix of panels and gaming exhibits that anyone would want from such an event.
IgroMir and Exclusives
Convention organizers have said that new title announcements will be available. We are wondering what these will be since no large producer would dare bother with it.
IgroMir and Competition
Perhaps the biggest problem with them taking on the convention world is that the convention world exists. North America, Europe and Japan all have significant convention scenes making millions of dollars for their owners. Breaking into such a saturated market could be hard so they will probably have to focus on Eastern Europe first.
Also the language gap can also be a problem since Russian is not exactly the most popular language in the world. Events also have a very Russian flavor which could lead to culture shock for some.
Almost Time for IgroMir 2014
Events start on October second and run through the fifth as well. Tickets are expensive for a smaller con but not compared to larger one. Prices run between 15-50 depending on the tickets you get and how many days you will be spending there. While it won’t be something everyone is interested in convention enthusiasts should take note of this.
