Red Orchestra 2 is having a free weekend to celebrate the release of new maps. We want to go over the details of the free weekend and maps for you.
The Red Orchestra 2 Free Weekend
Red Orchestra 2 is free right now. From April 2nd to April 9th the game will be 85% off and free-to-play. Find out whether this critically acclaimed game is worth it at that price. Our answer would have to be definitely.
Even if you do not want to buy it right away it is worth a play. The gameplay is quite a bit advanced compared to many FPS games. This is especially true in the way in which vehicles are handled. For some of you this is a plus. For new gamers it may be a bit overwhelming.
The Red Orchestra 2 Counterattack Maps
Tripwire Interactive held a 35K map contest to find quality maps. Four of these maps made it to the top and are in the new map pack. Here is what the “Counterattack” pack contains:
- Winterwald – Everyone loves a siege. This wintery map features Germans charging Russians in a fortified, hilly position.
- Arad 2 Tanks – Tanks battles are always great in this series. Arad 2 is the old map with updated graphics and a sunny atmosphere. The atmosphere will be even sunnier when tanks start exploding.
- Rakowice – In this remake of another classic map Russians are assaulting the ruins of a German airfield in devastated Poland.
- Stalingrad Kessel -Stalingrad was a legendary fight in history. Now it is a legendary map in both Red Orchestra one and two. This edition of course includes a total graphical overhaul like the others.
All of these are free as usual. Even better they will be compatible with the future Rising Storm edition. They hope to continue with updates for the life-cycle of the game.
