This particular edition of PlanetSide 2 Headquarters revealed some big balance changes. They have increased the resource cost, and lowered the resources you get. They have also flipped around some of the parts of maps. It is understandable why they would do this. It is also understandable that some fans are upset over it.
Why is it understandable on both ends of PlanetSide 2?
It is understandable from a developer viewpoint because they need to see what does and does not work. We are still in beta, and they seem dedicated to determining proper balance above all. They even record over every shot fired and make heat maps. At the same time, it is understandable why some PlanetSide 2 fans are annoyed that they do not have as many resources. In our personal opinion, this isn’t where the annoyance should be placed.
Resources boosts to those who are out-manned are very important in PlanetSide 2
In our opinion, the real problem lies in population bonuses not being fully implemented. Population bonuses to those who are out-manned are coming, but is not in yet. In our opinion, it will be the biggest positive option added to PlanetSide 2 thus far. Many people complain about some factions having a skill-less Zerg rush. This is undeniable in some maps. But a resource boost to those out-manned will help this in a huge way. They mentioned this in their current video. We hope it comes out soon.
They likely will no longer even need this restrictive cap once it is in. Logically, with a population bonus the larger factions will have less of an advantage. As a result, we assume they could lessen some resource restrictions.
Getting PlanetSide 2
As usual, you should check out their Alpha squad package and site. You can get quite a bit of value for your money. And of course, you can always just wait for this to go completely free. Either way is good.
