Our Darker Purpose Spotlight

In the tradition of “The Binding of Isaac” the Kickstarter for “Our Darker Purpose” is making some waves. Today we want to go over the Kickstarter for you since they are at a very crucial juncture.

A Spooky Atmosphere for Our Darker Purpose

One way the game really stands out is the extremely dark environments. The school is filled with supernatural students, living desks and other horrifying creatures. You play as Cordy who has to make it through the school to find out just what is happening. Of course it won’t be so easy as nearly everything is out to kill you.

Our Darker Purpose and a Different Take on Arena Shooters

Instead of the traditional style of arena shooting some of the areas have a maze-like quality to them. Some others are desperation runs as creatures chase you. This looks quite interesting to us and we hope the game makes it.

Our Darker Purpose Abilities

Our Darker Purpose and Abilities

One thing we really like, and something many other roguelikes have as well, is an ability system. When you die you do lose your progress but you can get additional innate abilities. Other games in this genre have used this system to great effect. There is still a place for roguelikes that make you lose everything, but we prefer these.

Why are we Covering Our Darker Purpose Now?

Because the Kickstarter is almost over and they have not met their funding goal. If you have a vested interest in seeing it succeed or might want to donate you should check it out now. At the time of this writing they are several thousand dollars away from their goal. Which is interesting because they have had some major press from all over the industry. We suppose it shows that even having big names can only get you so far.

The Our Darker Purpose Demo

With everything coming so close to crunch time they have released a pre-alpha demo. We suggest you try it out for yourself as we are quite impressed with the game so far.
