Many of us grew up playing Oregon Trail. We enjoyed shooting wild game and finding out we had broken a leg for no reason. And of course writing our own epitaphs when we died. Well you can experience all that fun yet again, but this time with Organ Trail zombies!
Organ Trail is a parody of the classic. Most of the game is the same, from your travel decisions to horrible death. You still hunt for food and ford things. They sort of took Left 4 Dead 2, put it with Oregon Trail and mixed it in a blender. However this game gives you some interesting twists:
- Instead of hunting wild animals, you hunt randomly appearing groceries. Of course the zombies will still be attacking you as you race to grab the majestic and elusive shopping cart.
- Instead of fording rivers and watching your family drown, you ford zombies. Basically you just drive your car through a huge horde of zombies. You also hope they don’t freak out and damage your car or members.
- Instead of towns you go to wrecked cities and abandoned mine shafts.
- While we don’t want to spoil it for you, the end section has a special twist.
- Small changes, such as talking with survivors instead of townsfolk.
They recently had a successful Kickstarter. The game is quite fun and of course it’s free. They have a free version on pc here which you should check out. Because of the success of their Kickstarter they will also be releasing a mobile version for iPhone. If you help them out enough it will even be on iPad and Android.
Organ Trail is brought to you by “The Men Who Wear Many Hats“. They are a small group that you may recall being friends with the Octodad crew. Be sure to check out their other games as well.
