Fans are no doubt familiar with Operation Supply Drop (OSD). Recently they delivered a huge shipment to the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) where military personnel are treated for severe injuries every day.
What the Brooke Army Medical Center Does
In order to understand why this drop was so crucial you need to understand what they do there. Civilians and soldiers receive cutting-edge treatment for the worst wounds anyone could imagine.
While the building is beautiful those inside often suffer from the most terrible injuries anyone could imagine. That’s why this matters so much.
We are talking about people who are dealing with full-body burns and the loss of limbs here. Obviously anything that can be done to ease their recovery needs to be done.
Logical Uses for the Operation Supply Drop Gaming Titles
Soldiers in recovery will receive these supply drops whenever they need them. Major Erik Johns, Chief of Occupational Therapy for the Burn Center mentioned that “There’s no limit to the potential use of games as a therapeutic tool,” and it’s true. Here are a just few uses:
- Range of motion therapy for brain injury sufferers
- Positive emotional changes in the patients
- Upper body control and balance improvements for patients
While we wouldn’t normally think about gaming in such an extreme case it actually can help with recovery in many cases.
