Octodad 2 news and updates

Octodad 2 has had a lot of activity going on at their blog. So we are going to fill you in about what is going on.

Young Horses had their first comic storyline and promotion called “Career Day”. This is pretty normal for the Octodad team, as they love to create social media for fans. Basically it is the story of Octodad meaning well but causing some havoc due to, well, being an Octopus. They will be updating every Monday with a new comic so be sure to check them out.

On a more significant note, they have recently made a major news post on their blog. Let’s go down each point:

  • The Octodad team will be bringing significantly more responsive controls.  But we can still expect the same fun, flailing action as the earlier game.
  • PhysX 3.0 will be used for the new game. The most significant improvement will be Octodad himself. He will have less clipping through objects, a problem with the first game. Overall collision and object movement should also be improved.
  • The worst thing about the first game, despite being very fun, was that the camera could cause significant problems. The team at young horses has promised to improve it significantly.
  • On the back end, they have created an all new editor that fans may one day get to use.
  • The save system is much more efficient and better set up. This is a relief as the original game had some odd issues with saves that sometimes made the game more confusing.
  • They have also greatly improved the graphics engine. They will be using more detailed shaders and better particle effects. The team is supposedly working very hard on the water effects, which would only be natural in a game like this. The game has an entirely new art style to show off, and pretty much everything about the game will look better.

We will keep you posted on more updates for this eccentric and quirky game.
